Saturday's Super Moon! via natgeo.com
May 6 - 12
I really dragged my feet through all of last week. Every task felt like an insurmountable inconvenience. And from what I hear, many of you felt the same way. The general feeling was slow-mindedness and a lack of motivation. Here in NYC, the overcast, gray days didn’t help our vital energy. Several people remarked that it felt like another Mercury Retrograde.
In fact, Mercury has been influencing our experience, not because it’s spinning backwards but because it’s connecting with other planets throughout May. Energetically last week's planetary positions in combination with the new month, did return us to the place of the March Mercury Retrograde and raised some of the issues we discovered in that time. We were forced to re-address these issues. We especially took away a feeling of stagnancy -- waiting as opposed to doing. Last week, I personally felt like I was walking through a fog with very dim lighting, not knowing what to reach for to ground my senses or help get my bearings. It’s no wonder this feeling resonated with so many people when we consider that last week was a major transition into May’s 1 energy.
Often we consider only the lighter energies of the 1 vibrations -- having boundless, optimistic energy connected to our excitement of embracing the new. We neglect to remember that a 1 vibration not only comes with these novel experiences centered around the theme of new beginnings, but also letting go. In order to move forwrad, we must break through and free from the old, before we can step into an entirely new reality. The image of Dorothy landing in Oz is an image I consistently rely on. We’ve gone from black and white to color; it is exciting, but also unexpected and slightly jarring. We want to take in the color of our new world but, like Dorothy experienced, it is unknown to us. Excitement is accompanied by wonder and bewilderment.
We begin this week with Saturday’s “Super” Moon, continuing to illuminate our new path and helping to dispel the fog. This week we’ll settle into our new surroundings with an increased optimism and a map in hand. Much of last week’s confusion will lift and we’ll feel more clear about where we presently are, and what’s ahead. The beauty and challenge of a 1 month is that we are simultaneously moving into a new house…and moving out of an old one. Last week’s confusion was a result of feeling straddled between two separate realities. A 1 energy requires us, at times, to resist the desire to take giant leaps, and rather, walk with small, thoughtful steps -- one foot in front of the other. This week has that experience of, before I do this, I have to do this and I’d rather being doing this, but I’m required to do this first. For this reason, it can feel deeply frustrating, as it did last week. Staying present is an important antidote to our desire to race forward. When we are present, we are more spiritually and mentally flexible. We are more open to subtle messages, more connected to our instinct.
love & light to you all.
